About Add Page Numbers

"Page 1 of N" counts only the pages that get a number, so with a skipped cover a 10-page PDF reads "Page 1 of 9" on page 2.

The distance from the edge is measured in millimetres from the visible page edge. 10 mm suits most documents; use more if your printer cuts off the margin.

Is it private?

Yes. Add Page Numbers runs entirely in your web browser using your device's own processor. Your files are never uploaded to Nolo or anyone else, and the page cannot send them anywhere: its security policy only allows it to talk to nolotools.com, which has no place to receive files. Results are kept encrypted on your device for 60 minutes in Your files, then deleted automatically, or straight away with Delete all. How Nolo works.

Questions and answers

Is my PDF uploaded?

No. The numbers are added inside your browser and the file never leaves your device.

Can I skip the cover page?

Yes. Set "Start on page" to 2. Set "First number" to choose which number that page gets, for example 1.

Will numbers be the right way up on landscape or rotated pages?

Yes. Nolo reads each page's rotation and places the number upright, in the corner you chose, as the page is displayed.

Which font is used?

Helvetica, one of the standard PDF fonts, in dark grey. The numbers are real text, so they can be searched and selected.

Does it change the rest of the PDF?

No. The number is drawn on top of each page; text, images, links and form fields stay as they were.
