About QR Code Scanner
The first scan without a built-in detector downloads the ZXing reader (about 1 MB) from nolotools.com; after that it works offline.
Is it private?
Yes. QR Code Scanner runs entirely in your web browser using your device's own processor. Your files are never uploaded to Nolo or anyone else, and the page cannot send them anywhere: its security policy only allows it to talk to nolotools.com, which has no place to receive files. Results are kept encrypted on your device for 60 minutes in Your files, then deleted automatically, or straight away with Delete all. How Nolo works.
Questions and answers
Is my image or camera video uploaded?
No. Decoding happens in your browser, using its built-in barcode detector when there is one, or the open-source ZXing reader running as WebAssembly. Nothing is sent anywhere.
Which codes can it read?
QR codes, Micro QR, Data Matrix, Aztec, PDF417 and common barcodes such as EAN-13, UPC-A, Code 128, Code 39 and ITF.
Can I scan a QR code from a screenshot?
Yes. Choose the screenshot, or paste it with Ctrl/โ+V.
Why does the camera not start?
The browser asks for permission the first time. If you blocked it, allow the camera for this site in your browser settings. You can always scan a photo instead.
Is it safe to open the link?
Nolo shows the full address and never opens it by itself. Check that the address is the one you expect before you tap Open link.
