About GPA Calculator

The 4.0 scale uses A = 4.0, A− = 3.7, B+ = 3.3, B = 3.0, B− = 2.7, C+ = 2.3, C = 2.0, C− = 1.7, D+ = 1.3, D = 1.0, D− = 0.7 and F = 0. For Nigerian students, the 5.0 scale follows the NUC grading used by most universities; polytechnics often use a 4.0 scale with different letters, so check yours.

Is it private?

Yes. GPA Calculator runs entirely in your web browser. What you type is never sent to Nolo or anyone else, and the page cannot send it anywhere: its security policy only allows it to talk to nolotools.com, which has no place to receive data. Nothing is stored either: close the page and it is gone. How Nolo works.

Questions and answers

How is GPA calculated?

Multiply each course's grade points by its credits, add them up, and divide by the total credits. A 3-credit A (4.0) and a 4-credit B+ (3.3) give (12 + 13.2) ÷ 7 = 3.6.

How do I calculate my CGPA in Nigeria?

Choose the 5.0 scale. A (70–100) = 5, B (60–69) = 4, C (50–59) = 3, D (45–49) = 2, E (40–44) = 1, F = 0. Multiply each by the course units, add them up and divide by the total units. Enter your previous CGPA and units to get the new cumulative figure.

What CGPA is a First Class in Nigeria?

Usually 4.50 to 5.00. Second Class Upper is 3.50–4.49, Second Class Lower 2.40–3.49, Third Class 1.50–2.39 and Pass 1.00–1.49. Some universities use slightly different bands, so check your student handbook.

Is an A+ worth 4.0 or 4.3?

Most US schools cap it at 4.0, some give 4.3. Turn on the A+ = 4.3 switch if your school does.

Are my numbers sent anywhere?

No. Everything is calculated in your browser with JavaScript. Nothing you type is uploaded, stored on a server or tracked, and the calculator works offline once the page has loaded.
