Is it private?
Yes. Average Calculator runs entirely in your web browser. What you type is never sent to Nolo or anyone else, and the page cannot send it anywhere: its security policy only allows it to talk to nolotools.com, which has no place to receive data. Nothing is stored either: close the page and it is gone. How Nolo works.
Questions and answers
What is the difference between mean, median and mode?
The mean is the sum divided by the count. The median is the middle value when sorted (or the mean of the two middle values). The mode is the value that appears most often.
Sample or population standard deviation?
Use the sample one (divides by n โ 1) when your numbers are a sample from a larger group, and the population one (divides by n) when you have every value.
What if no number repeats?
Then there is no mode. If several values tie for most frequent, all of them are shown.
Can I paste from Excel or Google Sheets?
Yes. Paste a column or row; anything that isn't a number is ignored. Avoid thousands separators like 1,000, which would be read as two numbers.
Are my numbers sent anywhere?
No. Everything is calculated in your browser with JavaScript. Nothing you type is uploaded, stored on a server or tracked, and the calculator works offline once the page has loaded.
