Convert video
To convert a video, choose it, pick MP4 or WebM and press Convert. When the codecs already fit the new format, Nolo just repackages the file (seconds, no quality loss); otherwise it re-encodes on your device.

About Convert Video
A video file is a container (MP4, MOV, WebM, MKV) holding compressed streams (H.264, HEVC, VP9, AV1 video; AAC, Opus, MP3 audio). MP4 and MOV are nearly identical inside, so MOV to MP4 is usually just a repackaging step.
Re-encoding uses WebCodecs, the browser's built-in hardware-accelerated encoders. Available codecs differ by browser and operating system; Nolo checks before it starts.
Is it private?
Yes. Convert Video runs entirely in your web browser using your device's own processor. Your files are never uploaded to Nolo or anyone else, and the page cannot send them anywhere: its security policy only allows it to talk to nolotools.com, which has no place to receive files. Results are kept encrypted on your device for 60 minutes in Your files, then deleted automatically, or straight away with Delete all. How Nolo works.
Questions and answers
Are my videos uploaded?
No. Everything happens inside your browser with its built-in media engine (WebCodecs). Your videos never leave your device, and the page works offline once loaded.
What is the difference between "Most compatible" and "Fastest"?
Most compatible makes MP4 with H.264 and AAC (or WebM with VP9 and Opus), which plays everywhere, re-encoding if needed. Fastest keeps the existing video and audio when the new format can hold them, which is near-instant and lossless.
Which input formats work?
MP4, M4V, MOV, WebM, MKV and MPEG-TS, as long as your browser can decode the codecs inside. You get a clear message if it cannot.
Why is my converted MP4 not playing on an iPhone?
If you chose Fastest and the source was VP9 (common in WebM), the MP4 still holds VP9, which older Apple devices do not play. Choose Most compatible to get H.264.
Does converting reduce quality?
Repackaging does not. Re-encoding loses a little; Nolo uses a high bitrate to keep it invisible. To make files smaller on purpose, use Compress Video.
