Grade calculator

Your weighted grade is Σ (weight × score) ÷ Σ weight. To find what you need on the final, use (wanted − current × (1 − final weight)) ÷ final weight: with 85% now, a 20% final and a 90% target, you need 110%.

Is it private?

Yes. Grade Calculator runs entirely in your web browser. Nothing is stored either: close the page and it is gone. How Nolo works.

Questions and answers

How do weighted grades work?

Each category counts by its weight. Homework at 20% with 92, quizzes at 20% with 85 and a midterm at 30% with 78 give (20×92 + 20×85 + 30×78) ÷ 70 = 84.0%.

What if my weights don't add up to 100?

The calculator divides by the weights you entered, so you get your average over the part of the course graded so far.

What does it mean if I need more than 100%?

The target cannot be reached on the final alone without extra credit. Try a lower target to see what is realistic.

Which letter grade scale is used?

The common US scale: 90+ A, 80+ B, 70+ C, 60+ D, below 60 F. Your school may differ.

Are my numbers sent anywhere?

No. Everything is calculated in your browser with JavaScript. Nothing you type is uploaded, stored on a server or tracked, and the calculator works offline once the page has loaded.
