How to use PDF Metadata Remover
- Choose or drop one or more PDFs.
- Check what was found: the current properties are listed.
- Pick "Remove all metadata", or "Set my own details" and fill in the fields.
- Press the button and download your PDF.
Is it private?
Yes. PDF Metadata Remover runs entirely in your web browser using your device's own processor. Your files are never uploaded to Nolo or anyone else, and the page cannot send them anywhere: its security policy only allows it to talk to nolotools.com, which has no place to receive files. Results are kept encrypted on your device for 60 minutes in Your files, then deleted automatically, or straight away with Delete all. How Nolo works.
Questions and answers
Are my files uploaded?
No. The file is read by code running in your browser tab. It is never sent to Nolo or anyone else, and the tool keeps working with your internet switched off.
What is removed?
The document Info dictionary (title, author, subject, keywords, creator, producer, creation and modification dates), every XMP metadata stream in the file, and private app data (PieceInfo). With the option on, the author names on comments and highlights are removed too.
Does it change the pages?
No. Text, images, links and form fields stay as they are. The file is rewritten, which also drops older saved versions that some PDFs keep inside.
Can I set my own title and author?
Yes. Choose "Set my own details", fill in the fields you want, and everything else is cleared.
Does it work with password-protected PDFs?
Not yet. Unlock the PDF first, then remove its metadata.
Are names inside the document text removed?
No. Only metadata is changed. Names written on the pages themselves stay visible; use a redaction tool for that.
