Is it private?
Yes. Find and Replace runs entirely in your web browser. What you type is never sent to Nolo or anyone else, and the page cannot send it anywhere: its security policy only allows it to talk to nolotools.com, which has no place to receive data. Is my text uploaded?
No. The replacement runs in your browser and nothing is sent.
How do I use capture groups?
Turn on Regular expression, put parts of the pattern in brackets, and refer to them as $1, $2 in the replacement. For example (\d{4})-(\d{2})-(\d{2}) with $3/$2/$1 turns 2024-03-15 into 15/03/2024. Named groups (?<year>โฆ) work as $<year>.
How do I replace line breaks or tabs?
Turn on "Understand \n and \t" and type \n for a new line or \t for a tab in either box. In regular expression mode \n works in the pattern automatically.
What does Whole words only do?
It only matches the text when it is not part of a longer word, so "cat" matches "cat" but not "category". It works with accented letters too.
