About Compress Image to 200KB

Online application forms often reject a photo that is even 1 KB over the limit. This page reaches a size of 200 KB or less by searching for the highest JPEG quality that fits (MozJPEG, the same encoder used by professional tools), and only shrinks the pixel size when quality alone is not enough.

Signatures and scanned documents compress far better than colourful photos. For a signature, crop away the empty paper first: fewer pixels leave more of the size budget for sharpness.

Is it private?

Yes. Compress Image to 200KB runs entirely in your web browser using your device's own processor. Your files are never uploaded to Nolo or anyone else, and the page cannot send them anywhere: its security policy only allows it to talk to nolotools.com, which has no place to receive files. Results are kept encrypted on your device for 60 minutes in Your files, then deleted automatically, or straight away with Delete all. How Nolo works.

Questions and answers

Will the file really be under 200 KB?

Yes, in almost every case. Nolo counts 1 KB as 1000 bytes, so the file stays under 200 KB whether a website counts 1000 or 1024 bytes per KB. If even the lowest quality cannot fit, the result is marked "could not reach the target".

Which websites need photos this small?

Many Indian government job and exam portals, such as SSC, IBPS, UPSC, NEET and state recruitment forms, ask for a photo or signature within a size range (for example a 20โ€“50 KB photo and a 10โ€“20 KB signature). Limits change, so always check the exact KB range and pixel size in your form's instructions.

Does it change the width and height?

"Automatic" first scales big phone photos to a sensible size for the target, then finds the highest quality that fits. If your form also asks for exact pixels (for example 200ร—230), resize the photo first with Resize Image.

Are my photos uploaded?

No. Everything happens in your browser on your own device. Your photos are never uploaded to Nolo or anyone else, and the tool keeps working with the internet switched off.

Can I compress several photos at once?

Yes. Add as many images as you like; each one is compressed to the same target and you can download them together as a ZIP.
