About HEIC to JPG
HEIC images store the photo with HEVC (H.265) compression. Nolo decodes them in your browser with a WebAssembly build of libheif, so it works on Windows, Android and Chromebooks that cannot open HEIC by themselves. The engine (about 3 MB) loads the first time you convert.
Tip: on an iPhone you can also set Settings โบ Camera โบ Formats โบ Most Compatible to shoot JPG directly, but HEIC saves space, so converting only the photos you share is often better.
Is it private?
Yes. HEIC to JPG runs entirely in your web browser using your device's own processor. Your files are never uploaded to Nolo or anyone else, and the page cannot send them anywhere: its security policy only allows it to talk to nolotools.com, which has no place to receive files. Results are kept encrypted on your device for 60 minutes in Your files, then deleted automatically, or straight away with Delete all. How Nolo works.
Questions and answers
What is a HEIC file?
HEIC (High Efficiency Image Container) is the photo format iPhones and iPads use by default since iOS 11. It is about half the size of JPG but many Windows programs, websites and forms cannot open it.
Will the JPG lose quality?
At the default 90% quality the difference is not visible. The JPG will be larger than the HEIC, because JPG compression is less efficient.
Can I convert HEIC to PNG instead?
Yes. Switch "Convert to" to PNG, WebP or AVIF before pressing Convert.
Are my HEIC files uploaded?
No. Everything happens in your browser on your own device. Your HEIC files are never uploaded to Nolo or anyone else, and the tool keeps working with the internet switched off.
Is there a limit on files or size?
No sign-up, no daily limit and no file-size cap. Your device's memory is the only limit.
