About Crop Image

Cropping removes the outer parts of an image. Nolo works on the full-resolution image, while the preview on screen is a scaled copy, so even very large photos stay smooth to edit. Keyboard users can focus the box and nudge it with the arrow keys (Shift for 10 px steps).

Is it private?

Yes. Crop Image runs entirely in your web browser using your device's own processor. Your files are never uploaded to Nolo or anyone else, and the page cannot send them anywhere: its security policy only allows it to talk to nolotools.com, which has no place to receive files. Results are kept encrypted on your device for 60 minutes in Your files, then deleted automatically, or straight away with Delete all. How Nolo works.

Questions and answers

Are my images uploaded?

No. Everything happens in your browser on your own device. Your images are never uploaded to Nolo or anyone else, and the tool keeps working with the internet switched off.

Does it work on a phone?

Yes. Drag the box and its corner handles with your finger; handles get bigger on touch screens.

How do I crop to an exact size?

Type the X and Y position and the width and height in pixels. With an aspect ratio selected, the height follows the width.

Does cropping reduce quality?

The kept pixels are not resampled. The image is saved once, at the quality you choose (92% by default), or losslessly as PNG.

Which ratio for Instagram?

1:1 for square posts, 4:5 for portrait posts (the tallest Instagram allows in the feed) and 9:16 for Stories and Reels.
