How to use Sign PDF
- Choose the PDF you need to sign.
- Draw your signature, type your name, or upload an image of your signature.
- Go to the right page and tap where the signature belongs; drag and resize it.
- Press Sign and save PDF and download the signed file.
About Sign PDF
Drawn signatures are captured with signature_pad, which smooths your strokes and varies the line width with speed like a real pen. Uploaded photos can have their white paper background removed, so the signature sits cleanly on the page.
When you save, each signature is embedded once as a transparent PNG and drawn on the page you chose, upright even on rotated pages.
Is it private?
Yes. Sign PDF runs entirely in your web browser using your device's own processor. Your files are never uploaded to Nolo or anyone else, and the page cannot send them anywhere: its security policy only allows it to talk to nolotools.com, which has no place to receive files. Results are kept encrypted on your device for 60 minutes in Your files, then deleted automatically, or straight away with Delete all. How Nolo works.
Questions and answers
Are my PDF and signature uploaded?
No. Everything happens in your browser. Your document and your signature never leave your device.
Is this a legally valid electronic signature?
It is a simple electronic signature: an image of your signature placed on the document, like signing a printout and scanning it. That is accepted for many everyday agreements, but it is not a certificate-based digital signature, and some contracts or authorities require one.
Can I sign on my phone?
Yes. Draw with your finger in the signature box, tap the page to place the signature, and drag it into position.
Can I add more than one signature or initials?
Yes. Press "Done placing", then tap again to add the same signature elsewhere, or make a new signature (for example your initials) and place that too.
Can someone remove my signature from the signed PDF?
The signature is flattened into the page content, so it is not a separate movable object, but like any PDF content it can be edited with special software. Keep your original.
Why does my typed signature look different on another device?
Typed signatures use the handwriting fonts installed on your device; Nolo does not download fonts. Draw your signature if you want it to look the same everywhere.
