About Favicon Generator

Browsers pick the best size from favicon.ico for tabs and bookmarks, while phones use the 180 px Apple touch icon and the 192/512 px PNGs from the web manifest for home-screen icons. Simple, bold shapes and one or two letters stay readable at 16 px; detailed logos turn to mush.

Is it private?

Yes. Favicon Generator runs entirely in your web browser using your device's own processor. Your files are never uploaded to Nolo or anyone else, and the page cannot send them anywhere: its security policy only allows it to talk to nolotools.com, which has no place to receive files. Results are kept encrypted on your device for 60 minutes in Your files, then deleted automatically, or straight away with Delete all. How Nolo works.

Questions and answers

Are my images uploaded?

No. Everything happens in your browser on your own device. Your images are never uploaded to Nolo or anyone else, and the tool keeps working with the internet switched off.

Which files do I get?

favicon.ico with 16, 32 and 48 px images, apple-touch-icon.png (180 px), icon-192.png and icon-512.png for Android and web apps, site.webmanifest and a text file with the HTML tags.

Where do I put the files?

Upload them to the root folder of your website (next to index.html) and paste the HTML tags into the <head> of every page.

What kind of .ico file is it?

A standard multi-size icon that stores each size as a PNG, supported by all current browsers and Windows Vista and later.

Why does the Apple touch icon have a background?

iPhones and iPads show transparent touch icons on black, so Nolo fills transparent areas with white (or your background colour).

Can I use an emoji?

Yes. The emoji is drawn with your device's emoji font, so it looks like Apple, Google or Microsoft emoji depending on the device you make it on.
