How to use Audio Cutter

  1. Choose an audio file (MP3, WAV, M4A, OGG, FLAC) or a video.
  2. Drag the handles on the waveform or type the start and end times.
  3. Press Play selection to check it, and add a fade in or out.
  4. Pick MP3 or WAV and press Cut.

Is it private?

Yes. Audio Cutter runs entirely in your web browser using your device's own processor. Your files are never uploaded to Nolo or anyone else, and the page cannot send them anywhere: its security policy only allows it to talk to nolotools.com, which has no place to receive files. Results are kept encrypted on your device for 60 minutes in Your files, then deleted automatically, or straight away with Delete all. How Nolo works.

Questions and answers

Are my audio files uploaded?

No. Everything happens inside your browser with its built-in media engine (WebCodecs). Your audio files never leave your device, and the page works offline once loaded.

Can I make a ringtone?

Yes. Select up to 30 seconds (40 for iPhone), add a short fade out and save as MP3. On iPhone, ringtones must be imported as .m4r through GarageBand or a computer.

Does cutting lower the quality?

Saving as WAV keeps the decoded sound exactly. MP3 re-encodes it; at 192 kbps or more the difference is inaudible for almost everyone.

How precise is the cut?

To the millisecond: the audio is fully decoded first, so you can type times like 12.345 seconds.

Can I cut the sound from a video?

Yes. Choose the video and the cutter uses its sound track.

Is there a length limit?

No limit set by Nolo, but the whole file is decoded into memory (about 10 MB per minute of stereo sound), so hours-long recordings need a lot of memory.
