About Audio Converter
MP3 is encoded with LAME (WebAssembly). AAC and Opus use your browser's WebCodecs encoders, and WAV is written as 16-bit PCM.
Is it private?
Yes. Audio Converter runs entirely in your web browser using your device's own processor. Your files are never uploaded to Nolo or anyone else, and the page cannot send them anywhere: its security policy only allows it to talk to nolotools.com, which has no place to receive files. Results are kept encrypted on your device for 60 minutes in Your files, then deleted automatically, or straight away with Delete all. How Nolo works.
Questions and answers
Are my audio files uploaded?
No. Everything happens inside your browser with its built-in media engine (WebCodecs). Your audio files never leave your device, and the page works offline once loaded.
Which format should I pick?
MP3 plays on everything. M4A (AAC) sounds a bit better at the same size and suits Apple devices. OGG (Opus) is the most efficient but less widely supported. WAV is uncompressed, for editing.
Why is M4A or OGG greyed out?
Those encoders come from your browser, and not every browser has them (for example some Linux builds lack AAC). MP3 and WAV always work because Nolo brings its own encoders.
Does converting improve quality?
No. Converting a 128 kbps MP3 to 320 kbps or WAV makes the file larger without restoring lost detail.
Can I convert many files at once?
Yes, as many as you like, with one download as a ZIP.
