Questions and answers
Does converting JPG to PNG improve quality?
No. PNG stores the pixels exactly, so no further quality is lost when you edit and save again, but it cannot restore detail the JPG already lost.
Will it make the background transparent?
No. A JPG has no transparency, so the PNG has the same solid background. Transparency must be added in an editor.
Why is the PNG so much bigger?
PNG is lossless, and photos have millions of slightly different colours that lossless compression cannot shrink much.
Are my JPG files uploaded?
No. Everything happens in your browser on your own device. Your JPG files are never uploaded to Nolo or anyone else, and the tool keeps working with the internet switched off.
Is there a limit on files or size?
No sign-up, no daily limit and no file-size cap. Your device's memory is the only limit.
