Is it private?
Yes. HTML Entities runs entirely in your web browser. What you type is never sent to Nolo or anyone else, and the page cannot send it anywhere: its security policy only allows it to talk to nolotools.com, which has no place to receive data. Nothing is stored either: close the page and it is gone. How Nolo works.
Questions and answers
Is my text sent to a server?
No. Everything runs in your browser and your text never leaves your device. The page is not allowed to talk to any other site, so it is safe to use with real data and secrets.
Which characters must be escaped in HTML?
& and < everywhere, > for safety, and " or ' inside attribute values. These are always escaped. Other characters like รฉ or โฌ do not need escaping on a UTF-8 page, but you can turn them into entities if your system needs plain ASCII.
Does the decoder know every entity?
Yes. Decoding uses your browser's HTML parser, which knows all 2,000+ named entities in the HTML standard as well as decimal (é) and hex (é) codes.
Is decoding safe with untrusted HTML?
Yes. The text is parsed in an inert document where scripts never run and nothing loads, and tags in your input are kept as plain text.
