About GIF Maker

GIF files are large compared with modern formats: a 480 px frame of a photo is often 100 to 200 KB. For long animations, a smaller width or fewer frames keeps the file shareable.

Is it private?

Yes. GIF Maker runs entirely in your web browser using your device's own processor. Your files are never uploaded to Nolo or anyone else, and the page cannot send them anywhere: its security policy only allows it to talk to nolotools.com, which has no place to receive files. Results are kept encrypted on your device for 60 minutes in Your files, then deleted automatically, or straight away with Delete all. How Nolo works.

Questions and answers

Are my images uploaded?

No. Everything happens in your browser on your own device. Your images are never uploaded to Nolo or anyone else, and the tool keeps working with the internet switched off.

How many images can I use?

As many as your device can handle. Each frame adds to the file size, so 2 to 50 frames at 480 px is a practical range.

Why do colours look grainy?

GIF can only store 256 colours per frame, so smooth gradients and photos get some banding. Nolo picks the best 256 colours for each frame separately.

Can I make a GIF from a video?

Not with this tool. It turns still images into an animation.

Will the GIF loop?

With "Loop forever" on (the default), yes. Turn it off to play once.
